5-7 days Kinnaur trip

Kinnaur is a beautiful, lesser-explored destination in Himachal Pradesh, offering a mix of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and adventure. We have  5-7 days itinerary to give you a comprehensive experience of the region, from the serene landscapes to the unique culture.

Day 1: Arrival in Shimla

  • Arrival: Arrive in Shimla (by car,train, bus, or flight).

  • Evening: Explore Mall Road and nearby attractions like Christ Church or Jakhoo Temple.

  • Overnight: Stay in Shimla.

  • ​

Day 2: Shimla to Sarahan (via Rampur)

  • Morning: Drive from Shimla to Sarahan (around 150 km, 6-7 hours drive).

  • En route: Stop at Rampur, a picturesque town known for its beautiful landscapes and local handicrafts.

  • Evening: Visit Bhimakali Temple in Sarahan, one of the most revered temples in the region.

  • Overnight: Stay in Sarahan.

Day 3: Sarahan to Sangla

  • Morning: Depart for Sangla (around 90 km, 4-5 hours drive). The journey takes you through stunning valleys and forests.

  • En route: Stop at Karcham for a view of the confluence of the Sutlej and Baspa rivers.

  • Afternoon: Arrive in Sangla, enjoy the beautiful views of the Kinnaur Kailash range.

  • Evening: Explore the village and enjoy the local scenery.

  • Overnight: Stay in Sangla.

Day 4: Sangla to Chitkul (Day Trip)

  • Morning: After breakfast, take a short drive (about 22 km) to Chitkul, the last inhabited village in India on the Indo-Tibetan border.

  • Explore: Enjoy the stunning views of snow-capped mountains, apple orchards, and rivers. You can also visit the traditional wooden houses and monasteries.

  • Afternoon: Return to Sangla.

  • Overnight: Stay in Sangla.

Day 5: Sangla to Kalpa

  • Morning: Drive from Sangla to Kalpa (around 40 km, 2-3 hours).

  • En route: Stop at Reckong Peo, the district headquarters of Kinnaur, to get a glimpse of the Kinnaur Kailash mountain range.

  • Afternoon: Arrive in Kalpa, a picturesque town with views of the Kinnaur Kailash range. Visit the famous Kalpa monastery and the local temples.

  • Evening: Relax and enjoy the serene atmosphere.

  • Overnight: Stay in Kalpa.

Day 6: Kalpa to Nako (via Tabo)

  • Morning: Drive from Kalpa to Nako (approximately 120 km, 5-6 hours), passing through Tabo (famous for its 1,000-year-old monastery).

  • En route: Visit Tabo Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

  • Afternoon: Arrive in Nako, a small village by the lake. Visit the Nako Monastery and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

  • Overnight: Stay in Nako.

Day 7: Nako to Shimla

  • Morning: After breakfast, drive back to Shimla (approximately 250 km, 9-10 hours).

  • En route: Enjoy the scenic drive back and stop for refreshments.

  • Evening: Arrive in Shimla. You can explore local markets or relax before your onward journey.

  • Overnight: Stay in Shimla or depart for onward destinations.

  • Trekking: Depending on the season and interest, treks like the Kinnaur Kailash trek can be added.

  • Cultural Experiences: Explore local Kinnauri culture, including traditional handicrafts, music, and dance.
